Engineering Eligibility
Not every student from a science background can study Engineering. There are a few criteria to meet for admission to Engineering in any college affiliated with Tribhuvan University. Here is the list:
- You should have completed your +2 education from a science background or equivalent.
- You should have scored a C in total in each subject of Class 11 and Class 12 with mathematics and physics 100 marks or 45% in total.
- At last, you must pass the entrance exam with a good score to get your name on the merit list of the college you are interested in.

1. Pulchowk College (TU)
The top engineering college in Nepal is the Pulchowk Campus, also known as Pulchowk Engineering Campus. It is one of the five constituent campuses of the Tribhuvan University, Institute of Engineering in Nepal. This is the Institute of Engineering’s (IOE) main campus, which is located in the Lalitpur metropolitan area. Programs leading to bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate degrees are available on campus.
For the Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) and Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) degrees, IOE conducts an entrance exam each year. Students who want to study engineering or architecture from all around Nepal take this exam, and only those who perform well are given the opportunity to study at the Pulchowk Campus. From around 15,000 applicants, the campus only accepts 576 students.

2. Thapathali Campus (TU)

3. Nepal Engineering College (Pokhara University)

4. Pashchimanchal Campus (TU)
One of the four campuses that make up Tribhuvan University’s Institute of Engineering in Nepal is the Pashchimanchal Campus, commonly known as the Western Region Campus (WRC). It is situated in the northern region of the colossally beautiful city of Pokhara.
It enjoys the heaven-like view of Machhapuchchhre and many other mountains in the Annapurna range as well as the constant roaring melody of the Seti River running nearby.
The campus is surrounded by numerous verdant hills, and the campus grounds themselves are a sight to behold. After Pulchowk Campus and Thapathali Campus, Pashchimanchal Campus is currently the third most sought-after engineering college in Nepal affiliated with TU.
With help from the World Bank and UNDP/ILO, the Pashchimanchal campus started operating in 1987. At first, the campus also provided technician courses in addition to diploma programs. The diploma stream was phased out by the Tribhuvan University Institute of Engineering, and as a result, enrollment in this stream ceased after 2069 BS.

5. Purwanchal Campus (TU)
Purwanchal Campus, formerly known as Eastern Region (ERC) Campus, is one of the top Engineering Colleges in Nepal. It is also one of the Tribhuwan University (TU) constituent campuses and one of the associate engineering campuses of the Institute of Engineering (IOE). It is a comprehensive, non-profit, autonomous institution that was the first higher education institution in Nepal to receive funding from the Nepalese government.
With only 336 students accepted out of more than 15000 applicants, it has an average acceptance rate of 2.24. The college is located in the eastern part of Nepal at Gangalal Marg, Tinkune, Dharan-8, Sunsari district.
Under the terms of a loan arrangement with the Asian Development Bank (ADB), it was founded in Poush of 2034 BS (1976) and given the name Purwanchal Technical School by the Nepali government. Another agreement with the government of the United Kingdom (UK) was made in Shrawn, 2035 BS (1978), and the UK government provided technical help (UK).
The Tribhuvan University (TU) Institute of Engineering (IOE) officially organized the ERC, and all construction was finished in 2043 BS (1984).

The Gandaki College of Engineering and Science (GCES) is located in Lamachaur, Pokhara. It is also one of the top 10 Engineering colleges in Nepal. GCES was established in 1998 as an extension of with the support of the Gandaki Boarding School board and the United Mission to Nepal.
