IOE to increase the fee of Bachelor in Engineering Programs

Tribhuvan University’s Institute of Engineering (IOE) is planning to revise the syllabus of the Bachelor of Engineering (BE) from this year onward. Not only the syllabus, they are going to revise the fee of every engineering program under TU IOE as well.

Previously, the fee for regular seats (non-scholarship seats) for regular engineering programs (except BE Chemical and BE Aerospace) was NPR 350,000. Now, this amount will be increased to NPR 770,000.

This is a 120% fee hike which is massive. However, there is a provision of increasing the fee by 10% every year (from 2053) but TU was running the BE course with the same fee every year. So, this new fee makes sense.

A study committee was formed by IOE to revise the fee and the fee are increased based on the reports prepared by this committee. Moreover, there is now a decision on by what percentage the fee will be increased every year going forward.

In the revised curriculum, IOE is making mandatory internships, market-oriented, and practical subjects.

The new fee structure and syllabus will be implemented from this year’s new admission. This fee is only for TU IOE constituent campuses. Currently, there are five constituent campuses of TU IOE which are Pulchowk Campus, Thapathali Campus, Purwanchal Campus, Pashchimanchal Campus, and Chitwan Engineering Campus.
